VLACKNEON

I have to say that this photo series with Rafa (@geografiadelhombre) was a surprise. We’d been in touch while I was in Mexico City (Rafa lives in Guadalajara) but it wasn’t until I returned to Guadalajara that we took these photos. I’d been really looking forward to shooting with him; I consider him one of the best photographers in the city. The surprise was that it flowed incredibly well; I don’t know why I expected a mechanical, rushed session, but it wasn’t like that at all.

It was a really relaxed afternoon. We had a couple of beers and talked about his photos and my experience posing for them. My rapport with Rafa was great, he’s cheerful and entertaining. I have to say it went on for several hours; I don’t remember exactly how long. But we went from taking some relaxed shots early in the afternoon to others taken just before sunset, with that beautiful lighting that Rafa always manages to capture.

We took a ton of photos, and honestly, I liked everything he sent me. Here’s a brief selection, the first part, which I’ll split into two or three posts. The mood of the photos changes throughout the afternoon and across the posts.

I felt very comfortable with him. Rafa specializes in male portraiture and regularly teaches photography workshops in Guadalajara and Mexico City.
